Honesty
of a Rickshaw Puller
Abdur Rahim is a
rickshaw puller. He is very poor; but every day he has to work hard to maintain
his family. One day, while he was pulling rickshaw, a gentleman got on his
rickshaw. The man reached the destination and paid him the fare. But at the
time of putting his purse into his pocket. It dropped inside the rickshaw. The man
went away and rushed to the ticket counter to get the Rajshahi bound train. When
he put his hand into the pocket to take money from the purse, he found his
purse missing. He was at a loss, thought for a while and did not know what to
do. Then he remembered about his rickshaw journey. However, he quickly returned
to the rickshaw stand and started looking for the rickshaw. He also talked to
the other rickshaw divers present there but they could not give him any
information. He was thinking about all the things kept in his purse and thought
that he had lost everything. Suddenly he got a call on his mobile. The driver
came to the rickshaw stand and handed over the purse to the man. Then the man
was charmed at the driver’s honesty and thanked him. He also thought that such
honesty must be rewarded and gave the driver two gold coins.
A Rich Man and a Happy Cobbler There lived a happy cobbler who passed his days working and singing from morning till night.A rich neighbor of him was a banker who one day said to him, "How much a year do you earn?" The cobbler laughed and said, "I earn enough to make both ends meet." The rich man said, "I think you are in great distress." The cobbler said, "I am happy to lead such life." The next day the rich man again came and met the cobbler. He gave him fifty thousand taka and said, "Keep this money and remove your suffering." The cobbler was surprised and did not take it at first.
