Bayazid and his sick mother

Bayazid and his sick mother
Once upon a time, there was a small boy named Bayazid. His mother was ill. One night he was studying by the side of the bed of his mother. All on a sudden, his mother woke up, raised her head and told her son to give her a glass of water. Bayazid took a glass and went to the jar in the corner of the house but alas! There was no water in it. He tried his best but found no water anywhere in the house. He thought for a while and suddenly an idea came into his mind. The brave boy went out alone in the dark night with a jar to fetch water from a distant fountain. He filled the jar with water and returned home safely. His mother was in deep sleep and the obedient boy did not disturb his mother. Instead he stood still beside his mother’s bed with a glass of water in his hand. Thus the night was over and his mother woke up and saw his son standing beside her bed. She was surprised to see the scene. After a while she could remember everything and so she became pleased with his son and prayed to Allah for him from the core of her heart. It is sure that mother’s prayer never goes in vain. Allah granted her prayer and in course of time Bayazid became a famous saint in the world.

A Greedy Dog and a Piece of Meat

Once a dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher's shop. He was very glad to have it and thought of a heavy meal at home. He was greedy. On the way there was a small river. Over the river there was a bridge. The river was full to the brim. While the dog  was passing the bridge he saw his own shadow into the water. But he thought it was another dog. The shadow dog also had a piece of meat that was his own meat. But the dog was unable to understand the matter. To have that  piece of meat the dog barked and jumped  into the river. As he opened his mouth his own meat dropped into the water. He tried his best to have his own but in vain. The dog was foolish. So, he lost not only his meat but also his life. The teaching of the story is 'grasp all lost all'.
