A Greedy Dog and a Piece of Meat
 
Once a dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher’s shop. He run away with it and at last went to a stream and holding it in his mouth. He began to cross the stream over a narrow bridge. 
 
Suddenly, he looked down from the bridge into the river. He saw another dog carrying a piece of meat in his mouth. The dog stopped on the bridge and looked down very carefully. He became greedy to get the other piece of meat. 
 
In fact, he saw his own image in the clear water of the river and took it for another dog. So, he howled at the image. 
 
Instantly, the piece of meat in his mouth fell into the water. The dog jumped after the piece of meat that was dropping.
 
Alas! he failed to get it. He somehow swam to the other bank of the river but remained unfed.

The roast looked so delicious that the cook could not resist the temptation and ate up one of the drumsticks.  Once a dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher's shop. He was very glad to have it and thought of a heavy meal at home. He was greedy. On the way there was a small river. Over the river there was a bridge. The river was full to the brim. While the dog  was passing the bridge he saw his own shadow into the water. But he thought it was another dog. The shadow dog also had a piece of meat that was his own meat. But the dog was unable to understand the matter. To have that  piece of meat the dog barked and jumped  into the river. As he opened his mouth his own meat dropped into the water. He tried his best to have his own but in vain. The dog was foolish. So, he lost not only his meat but also his life. The teaching of the story is 'grasp all lost all'.
