The monkey and two foolish rats or, Dividing the bread
The monkey and two foolish rats
Dividing
the bread
Once two rats found a
piece of bread. They tried to divide it into two equal halves but failed. They fought
for that. Lastly, they agreed to put up their problem to the monkey. All the
animals of the forest knew him as the wiser animal. They went to the monkey and
asked him to divide the bread into two equal halves.
The monkey divided the
piece in such a way that it was not equally divided. Then he cut a small part
of a piece which was larger than the other one and ate that piece instantly.
Again,
the dishes of the scales were unequal and the monkey ate another small part of
the larger portion. He continued this trick and the rats ordered to stop doing
that.
The monkey stopped his deception but claimed the rest of the bread as his
charge. Then the rats realized the consequence of their foolishness.
