It was a small but a beautiful town to look at.There a river on one side as well as a mountain on the other side. The town was faced with a great problem. It became full of rats and the rats were so big and fierce that they fought the dogs, killed the cats and bit the babies in the cradles. The people of the town fell in a great danger. At last they came to the Mayor and the Mayor called a meeting of his councilors but they could not find out a  solution. At that time a strange person with a flute in his came  and he said,  "People call me the Pied Piper. If you pay me one thousand guilders. I will rid your town of rats." The Mayor agreed with him. The pied piper started  playing on a strange flute. Hearing the sound, the rats came out of the house, following him, jumped into the river and were drowned . Then  the piped piper demanded the promised  money  from the Mayor but the Mayor did not keep his  promise. At this the strange man became angry and started playing on his flute  in another tune.Hearing the strange tune, the children came out of their houses dancing  and followed him. Finally, the pied piper  disappeared behind a hill with all the children and they never came back. The people of Hamlin got punishment for not keeping promise.

A Greedy Dog and a Piece of Meat

Once a dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher's shop. He was very glad to have it and thought of a heavy meal at home. He was greedy. On the way there was a small river. Over the river there was a bridge. The river was full to the brim. While the dog  was passing the bridge he saw his own shadow into the water. But he thought it was another dog. The shadow dog also had a piece of meat that was his own meat. But the dog was unable to understand the matter. To have that  piece of meat the dog barked and jumped  into the river. As he opened his mouth his own meat dropped into the water. He tried his best to have his own but in vain. The dog was foolish. So, he lost not only his meat but also his life. The teaching of the story is 'grasp all lost all'.
