A Neclace and the Thief
Once a golden necklace was lost from a rich man's house. A few servants worked in that house. Naturally it was suspected that anyone of the servants had stolen the necklace. The rich man asked all of them but nobody confessed his guilt. So the man went to a judge and made a complaint before the judge. The judge called all the servants but all of them denied the charge. The judge then hit upon a plan to find out the thief. He managed to bring some sticks and gave each of them a stick of the equal length. Then he asked them to submit it on the following day. He also told them that stick of the thief would increase by an inch.Returning home, every one kept his stick as it was and passed his night freely but the servant who stole the necklace shortened the length of his stick by one inch.
The next day all the servants appeared before the Judge in just time and submitted their sticks. But the thief was easily detected when his stick was found shortened by an inch. Then the thief was given due punishment.
