Suruj Ali an honest caretaker

Once upon a time there lived a rich man in a village. His name was Hamidur Rahman. He was fond of fruits. He employed a caretaker to look after his garden. His name was Suruj Ali. It was the time for mangoes. One day the rich man invited some of his friends and relatives. When they came, the owner ordered the caretaker to bring some mangoes for the guests. He brought some fine ripe mangoes from the garden but the mangoes were sour. So they could not taste them. The owner again ordered Suruj Ali to bring some ripe sweet mangoes which looked but were sour. The owner became angry with the caretaker so many years but he had not yet been able to bring sweet mangoes. The caretaker told him , it’s my duty to guard the trees but not to taste the fruits. Hearing this, the owner of the garden was very much pleased with the caretaker for his honesty and Suruj Ali was given a large plot of land to make a garden by himself.

A Greedy Dog and a Piece of Meat

Once a dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher's shop. He was very glad to have it and thought of a heavy meal at home. He was greedy. On the way there was a small river. Over the river there was a bridge. The river was full to the brim. While the dog  was passing the bridge he saw his own shadow into the water. But he thought it was another dog. The shadow dog also had a piece of meat that was his own meat. But the dog was unable to understand the matter. To have that  piece of meat the dog barked and jumped  into the river. As he opened his mouth his own meat dropped into the water. He tried his best to have his own but in vain. The dog was foolish. So, he lost not only his meat but also his life. The teaching of the story is 'grasp all lost all'.
