Superlative to Comparative:

Structure: Subject + Verb + Comparative adjective + than + any other/ most other + rest all other part.

  • Salma is the best of all the singers.
    = Salma is better than any other singers.
  • Rina is the tallest of all the girls.
    = Rina is taller than all other girls.
 [NB: ‘all’ থাকলে পরিবরতিত হয় না।] 

  • Seema is not the most intelligent girl.
    = Seema is less intelligent than any other girl.
    [Note: Negative ‘Not’ থাকলে ¨ ‘less’ হয়]
Superlative to positive

 Structure: No other/ Very few + next part of adjective + Verb + as + Positive + as
                    + Subject (+ next part).

        Sentence এ  

        One of the  থাকলে   Very few  হয় ।
        Others case এর ক্ষেত্রে   No other  হয়।
  • Nazrul was the best poet.
= No other poet was as good as Nazrul.
  • Shakespeare was one of the best dramatists in English Literature.
= Very few dramatists were as good as Shakespeare in English Literature.
  • The rose is one of the most beautiful flowers.
= Very few flowers are as beautiful as the rose.
  • English is the easiest language in the world.
= No other language is as easy as English Language in the world.

Comparative to positive:

Structure: Next part of adjective + Verb + Negative + as + Positive + as + Subject.

  • Iron is more useful than all other metals.
    = All other metals are not as useful as Iron.
NB. If  মূল sentence negative  nq and adjective wecixZ A_© cÖKvk K‡i Z‡e  subject AcwiewZ©Z _v‡K|  positive Gi †¶‡Î  Affirmative  nq |
  • India is not less important than Russia.
    = Russia is as important as India.
Positive to Comparative:

Structure: Next part of adjective + Verb + Negative + Comparative + than + Subject.

  • Karim is as strong as Rahim.
    = Rahim is not stronger than Karim.
  • My pen is not as expensive as Alam’s.
    = Alam’s pen is more expensive than mine.
[If  যুক্ত মূল sentence না বোধক হয়,তবে তা অপরিবর্তিত অংশ affirmative হয়|]

  • Very few metals are as valuable as diamond.
    = Diamond is more valuable than most other metals.
[If যুক্ত মূল sentence  ‘very few’ দ্বারা শুরু হলে তবে   comparative এ  most other/ some other হয় এবং কোন  negative হয় না। ] 

  • No other fruit is as sweet as mango.
    = Mango is sweeter than any other fruit.
[If the sentence begins with ‘no other’ no negative is remained and sits ‘any other’.]

                                                              A cook and his master A clever cook and his ready wit A cook once roasted a duck for his master. The roast looked so delicious that the cook could not resist the temptation and ate up one of the drumsticks. Active voice: When the verb of a subject is active  its own, then we can say  it  an active voice. Examples: I do the  work. Karim eats rice. Salma reads a book. Kobita is eating bread. Passive Voice : When the verb of a subject  become in active  then it is called passive voice. Examples: The work is done by me. Rice is eaten by Karim. A book is read by Salma. NB: She  is done  the work. A book  have had  by me. She  is gone  to school. We think  these are not  voice, but  they may be some special sentence. On the other hand it does not en-broaden linguistic beauty of the sentence. Rules of  Changing voice :  1.     Present Indefinite q   Object of active becomes the subject of passive voice. Subject  becomes object with possessive form and by.  Auxiliary verb am, is, are places before main verb.
